The obverse features Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in right-profile relief. Jody Clark's portrait was introduced on British coinage in 2015 and later on Australian coinage in 2018, and became the final definitive effigy of Elizabeth II.
The reverse focuses on the namesake creature. Spotted Eagle Rays have broad, diamond-shaped bodies with dark upper surfaces patterned in white or pale spots that vary between individual animals, completed by a distinctive snout, pointed fins, and an exceptionally long tail.
The coins are randomly dated, so the year of issue may vary with each purchase. Broad, wing-like pectoral fins allow the ray to move smoothly through tropical and subtropical waters.
